Due to his work as organist Arno came aquinted with choir music. After seven years of organist and assistant choirmaster at the Reformed Churchchoir in Buurmalsen, he conducted choirs in Hedel, Opijnen and Nederhemert.
At the Hogeschool Gorinchem I.D.E. he studied with Joop Schets. In June 2000 he finished the first part of his studies with a recital with Magnificat of J.S. Bach. In June 2004 he completed his studies.
